Commissioned Composer
The Utah Music Teachers’ Composer Commission is set up to highlight Utah composers and encourage new music. The commission is supported by both Utah Music Teachers Association and Music Teachers National Association. The winning composers will be entered in the MTNA Distinguished Composer of the Year Competition.
A new composition will be commissioned each year that funds are available. Proposals submitted between May and September will be considered to be premiered at the state conference the following year.
Proposals will include a resume and a summary of the proposed project. Applications will be reviewed in September and announced at the UMTA State Conference of that year. Applicants can be Utah residents of any age and experience.
