President’s Message

Welcome to Utah Music Teachers Association!

Dear UMTA Members

It is a tremendous honor to serve as president of the Utah Music Teachers Association. As we begin this journey together, I am filled with gratitude for the teachers, mentors, colleagues, and friends who make UMTA such a remarkable organization.

I often say that I am a product of UMTA. Much of what I know about teaching, musicianship, leadership, and service came from chapter meetings, conferences, and the friendships formed through this association. Like so many of us, I have grown because of the generosity and encouragement of fellow teachers.

That is what makes UMTA special. My hope is that every member feels welcome, valued, and empowered to contribute because our organization is strongest when every voice is heard. Every member brings unique experiences, talents, and perspectives. Whether you are attending your first chapter meeting, beginning your career, or have decades of teaching experience, you are an important part of our community.

As we look ahead, let’s continue building a welcoming community where musicians, colleagues, and friends connect, inspire, and mentor one another. Attend a chapter meeting, volunteer, share an idea, encourage a colleague, or welcome someone new. Together, we can continue advancing excellence in music education while fostering a place where everyone belongs.
